A chalk welcome sign drawn by children at the Assisi Snehalaya HIV/AIDS Care Centre.

This sign is at the entrance of Shanti Ashram, a community development center in Coimbatore. They offer a wide variety of outreach programs, including literacy, healthcare, nutrition, hygiene, alleviation of poverty, women’s empowerment and HIV/AIDS education. Very impressive.

Father Leo’s family hosted us for dinner one evening. They danced and sang for us, and we sang a little for them. They were charming hosts. That’s Father Leo sitting by the wood paneled wall.
